Enjoy affordable fun with friends and family this holiday season in Abilene! Each of the following attractions, groups or events will offer a free Christmas-themed activity or concert over the course of 12 days during the month of December.

Day 1 (Dec. 7) – Celebration Singers

Get into the holiday spirit with the Celebration Singers, a local community chorus and performing ensemble, as they present their annual Christmas program and concert at the historic Paramount Theatre. 7:30 p.m. Free to the public. Info: 325-676-6026.

Day 2 (Dec. 8-10) – Holiday Music at the Airport

There are plenty of live and local performances this week at the Abilene Regional Airport. On Wednesday, Cooper High Red Rhythm and Blues performs at 1 p.m. and Abilene Christian Schools performs at 5 p.m. On Thursday, Woodson Handbell Choir performs at 10:15 a.m. and on Friday, Austin Elementary Choir performs at 1 p.m. All performances are free to the public. Anyone who dines at the new Airport Café or listening to the musical performances can park in the airport’s covered parking lot for free for up to two hours. Day 3 (Dec. 9) – The Big Country Christmas Concert

Disability Resources Incorporated will present their annual Big Country Christmas Concert featuring The Quebe Sisters Band, winner of the Western Swing Album of the Year. The concert also features the DRI Bell Peppers Handbell Choir. 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre. Admission is free to the public. Info: 325-677-6815.

Day 4 (Dec. 10-12) – 28th Annual Living Christmas Tree, ‘The Promise of Christmas’

The public is invited to come hear the voices of the WBC Worship Choir, Orchestra and Drama Team as they focus on the birth of Jesus and His promises. The living Christmas tree is a 25 ft. structure with 40,000 computerized lights that holds the choir as they perform. Wylie Baptist Church. Day 5 (Dec. 11) – Chautauqua Learning Series

Buffalo Gap Historic Village will host the Chautauqua Learning Series featuring Jewellee Kuenstler. She will present her knowledge of how Christmas was spent on the early Texas frontier. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission is free to village members; $7 per person otherwise. Day 6 (Dec. 12) – Old Fashioned West Texas Christmas Concert

Abilene Hope Haven will host their Old Fashioned West Texas Christmas Concert featuring the Ball Ranch Family Singers and Greg Young. The concert will be held at the Paramount Theatre and is free to the public with a suggested donation to Hope Haven.
