The Taylor County Expo Center will host the 40+ Team Roping Competition this Saturday. Not sure what team roping entails? Team roping features two riders: the first rider ropes the front of the steer and the second rider ropes the steer by its hind feet and is the only event where men and women can compete together during professional competitions. The Wayne Ramsey Memorial Golf Classic is back this Saturday at Diamondback Golf Club. This annual golf tournament is in memory of Dr. Wayne Ramsey, who served Abilene as a radiologist for almost 40 years and benefits the American Cancer Society. The Big Country Astronomy Club will host their “Venus Transit Observation and Star Party” at the Abilene State Park Tuesday evening from 4 pm to 10 pm. Use their solar lens telescopes to view Venus cross between the earth and sun around 4 pm. This rare event will not happen again in our lifetime.
