Eternal Threads, the international non-profit based right here in Abilene, will host a Afghan Women’s Carpet Show and Sale tomorrow night from 7 to 9 pm at 181 Pine. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres as you view the collection of carpets and beautiful handmade products made by women of Afghanistan.  Each of these unique pieces has its own story of bravery that each woman crafted into each piece. McMurry University Theatre presents the zany English rock ‘n’ roll musical, “Return to the Forbidden Planet” this Thursday thru Saturday evening.  Jam along as the top 40 hits from the 1950’s and 60’s are woven into the characters, plot and dialogue from the cult classic science fiction movie “Forbidden Planet” and various Shakespearean plays. The ACU homecoming brings many Wildcats back to Abilene and, of course, their homecoming musical! This year the ACU theatre department presents “42nd Street,” the winner of the 1980 Tony Award for “Best New Musical” and the 2001 Tony Award Winner for “Best Revival of a Musical.” Come see why so many people love and support this timeless tale about an out-of-luck understudy who becomes an instant overnight sensation.
