During certain times of the year, Abilene is fortunate enough to have larger city experiences available in our not quite so large town. This week just happens to be a perfect example of that.

For example, the Best of Broadway Series presents the 2005 Tony Award “Best Musical” winner, “Monty Python’s Spamalot.”  I know the Monty Python phenomena has some pretty passionate followers. This musical is modeled after the wildly successful classic film, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” which tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they search for the Holy Grail while encountering flying cows, killer rabbits and more. You know, the usual things you’d run into hunting the Grail. Sadly, you can count this among the millions of others things I have not fully seen other than bits and pieces some of my funnier friends have made me watch throughout the years. I know what I’ve seen is funny. In fact, people compare what the members of this original comedy troupe did for comedy to what the Beatles did for music. Find out why for yourself tomorrow night at 7:30 in the Abilene Civic Center Auditorium. Call 325-676-6211 for ticket pricing and availability.

Tomorrow from 9 am to 6 pm and Wednesday from 9 am to 4 pm, head on over the Taylor County Expo for the Texas Farm, Ranch and Wildlife Expo. Sponsored by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, this state and regionally celebrated event will showcase the best of the industry’s products and services. I like to go, not because I’m involved in the industry at all, but to see the latest and greatest in machinery, trucks and more. The show coincides with the Rolling Plains Cotton Growers Association annual meeting, the Texas Wildlife Association meeting and will include a Future Farmers of America judging contest. Admission is free. Need more info? Call 325-677-7241.

Find out how many clowns can actually fit in a clown car this Friday and Saturday at the Taylor County Coliseum as the “Circus Gatti” marches into Abilene. Take your loved ones, big and small, to be wowed from the opening act to the final turn with exotic animals, bumbling clowns, talented performing artists and more. Take in the magic of the circus and make a lasting memory. Ticket prices vary. Show times are 4:15 and 7:30 pm on Friday and 2 and 7 pm on Saturday. Call 325-677-4376 to learn more.

Next Sunday enjoy the best of gospel at the Abilene Civic Center with the Black Chamber of Commerce’s “Sunday’s Best Gospel Fest” from 3 to 5 pm. Enjoy local talent, celebrated guest artists and a catered meal. Cost is $20 a person and proceeds benefit the Chamber. Call 325-721-1912 for more information.

Happy memory makin’, y’all!
