Join Pregnancy Resources of Abilene as they welcome Pam Tebow, yes, mama to THAT Tebow, for their annual “Life In Bloom” dinner tomorrow night at 7 pm. Pam will share her unique experiences raising her son Tim in fervent faith, football and other inspirational stories. Sounds like a slam dunk of a time to me, but I’m not one for sports analogies. Cost is $35 a person. All proceeds benefit Pregnancy Resources of Abilene. Call 325-672-6415 for more information.

Have a little girl 6 or younger? Take the short drive out to the Buffalo Gap Historic Village Thursday from 10 am to 11 am for “Story Time” at the Gap. Hear stories to inspire your little ladies about important Texas women and participate in games and activities celebrating them after the reading. Having had a baby girl of my own two months ago, I’m eager to have her hear stories of these courageous women of, in my opinion, the greatest state in the union. Gotta start inspiring ‘em young, right?   I’m no expert, but I’m quite certain young girls will be hearing her story one day. Regular admission gets you into the Village, but the reading and activities are free! Call 325-572-3365 to learn more.

Did you hear that? That’s a rattle, alright. Yep, it’s that time of year again where all things rattlin’ are celebrated. The 55th Annual Sweetwater Rattlesnake Round-Up will be held in the Nolan County Coliseum Friday through Saturday. As the world’s largest rattlesnake round-up, you’ll have the opportunity to see snake handling demonstrations, view rarities in the coin, gun and knife show and chow down at the chili and brisket cook-off. Never tried deep-fried rattlesnake or won a rattlesnake eating contest? Well, here’s your chance! Please let me know how it goes. I’ll be there, but will be waiting in my car for my husband and our boys to finish enjoying all the festivities. Admission varies so call 325-235-5488 with any questions.

The Paramount Film Series is back with the cult classic “The NeverEnding Story.” Growing up, I remember hearing all about this movie and thinking the fantasy world it was set in, Fantasia, sounded like a lovely place. It was, however, another movie I never actually saw. I know, I know, that’s MY never ending story. But I will take the opportunity to see this tale of a troubled boy who dives into a wondrous adventure through the pages of a mysterious book this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm or Saturday at 2 pm. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for students, seniors, military and children. Call 325-676-9620 for tickets.

Get ready to get your laugh on as the Abilene Civic Center welcomes George Lopez to the stage. Lopez has risen to become one of the premier comedic talents in the entertainment industry. Active in television, film and standup, Lopez now has a celebrated career in Hollywood. He even counts Sandra Bullock as one of his best friends which means he gets extra points in my book. His hilarious comedy tour, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” promises laughs for the mature audiences of 18+. I may not be as mature as my 18-year-old niece, or my 12 year-old niece for that matter, but I definitely meet the 18+ requirement and can’t wait to share a laugh with the great George Lopez! Cost varies so call the box office to learn more: 325-676-6211.

Happy memory makin’, y’all!
