I think you’ll have a lot to look FOREward to with the events coming up this week!

Fore! Abilene is proud to welcome the American Junior Golf Association’s Aaron’s-Bob Estes Golf Tournament. These talented golfers will play tomorrow through Thursday and will give you the opportunity to see some of the best new talent in the sport. The tournament will take place at the Abilene Country Club. Call 325-691-1000, extension 7803 for more information.

The 6th Annual Dachshund Races and Rescued Dog Reunion dashes its way into the Nelson Park Festival Gardens this Thursday evening from 5 pm to 9 pm. This dog show celebrates the every man of pooches: no papers required! Come show off your rescued dog to enter them in the costume contest, partake in the dachshund races or enter one of the following categories to make your 4 legged best friend a winner: Smallest Dog, Tallest Fat Dog, Oldest Owner, Dog Look-a-Like and Best Costume. Protect your pooch with a $5 microchip from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Proceeds benefit Rescue the Animals. Questions? Call 325-677-7722.

One of my favorite activities is back at 6:30 pm this Thursday! Take a walk on the wild side with The Zoo Summer Concert Series at the Abilene Zoo. This month’s talent is the Abilene Christian University Jazz Band. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a cool breeze, watch the animals’ personalities come out in the cooler night air and grab a yummy snack and rest at the Watering Hole. The cost varies: $5 for adults, $4 ages 60+, 3-12 and is free for those 2 and younger. Call 325-695-1204 for more information.

Take the short drive out to Buffalo Gap to attend Craft Sunday at the Buffalo Gap Historic Village. From 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, gather in fellowship with others and the BGHV staff to create and take home a salt art project. Bring the little ones. Military and those 12 or younger are free, adults are $7, seniors are $6.

Craft Sunday means Sunday Funday at the Buffalo Gap Historic Village!
