One of my favorite things about Abilene is the wide variety of fun that’s always available. These next events are the perfect example of that!

The Hardin Simmon’s University Theatre department presents “Freud’s Last Session” tonight thru Sunday. This acclaimed Broadway hit centers on the physoanaylst legend himself, Dr. Sigmund Freud and his lesser known, younger friend, Professor C.S. Lewis. Together the two explore the existence of God, love and the meaning of life on the day that England chooses to enter World War II. Watch the talented students bring this tale to life as you ponder your own answers to this play’s questions. Show times are 7:30 Thursday thru Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for military, seniors and students. Call 325-670-1000 to learn more.

Mark Friday, September 13th off on your calendar and plan to attend the Abilene Zoo’s “Zoobilation” event. This annual party and fundraising festivity allows you to experience the Zoo after hours, dance to Abilene’s own Free Ride and participate in live and silent auctions. All proceeds benefit the giraffe exhibit renovations. The festivities start at 6 pm and the cost is $65 a person. I can tell you it’s an absolute must: let’s have a great time and make sure those giraffe’s get a beautiful new home. Advance purchase is required, so call 325-676-6085 to get your tickets today.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Big Country Mudslinger Fun Run which will be on September 14th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. This 3 mile course promises mud pits, obstacles, slip ‘n’ slides and more for the whole family. All proceeds support the Abilene Youth Sports Authority. Prices vary from $10-45 with group rates available and advanced registration is required so sign up today! Call 325-692-2972 for more information.
