The Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau had the privilege of speaking to several area schools today on the importance of travel and tourism to their community! The presentation focused on telling students what we do to promote Abilene, as well as how they can step up and be a leader to make others see how great Abilene really is! We want the future generation to know they can make a difference, and they could find themselves potentially working in the industry!

Several leaders from our area attractions and community joined us at St. John’s Elementary in telling the students what travel meant to them and their organization. At Abilene High, our Director of Sales and Director of Visitor Sales and Services were able to reach out to two high school classes about the travel and tourism industry. This was a wonderful opportunity because many of those students are actively seeking what they would like their career to be, and they were able to hear from two women who couldn’t be more passionate about tourism in Abilene!

We believe in the future of the travel and tourism industry! Our goal is to inspire the future generation to consider this as a career choice, and a way to better the community they chose to live. (We hope it’s Abilene!)

Thank you to The Grace Museum, The Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, The City of Abilene, City Councilman Joe Spano, and Abilene High School.
