When planning your wedding, consider Frontier Texas! as a reception venue. By day, Frontier Texas! serves as one of the few museums in the world to feature life-sized holographic figures, while showcasing life on the Texas frontier between 1780 1880. However, by night, it serves as one of the hottest venues in Abilene to host your reception or next party.

This summer, I had the opportunity to experience a reception at Frontier Texas! firsthand. I attended the wedding reception of Keathley King and Aaron Roan in July. It was an event that will be remembered and reminisced for years to come. The outside courtyard and pavilion gave the welcoming presence of summer, while serving as the main reception area.

Located outdoors in the courtyard area, at this particular wedding, there was enough space for three separate bars, three food areas, a dance floor, stage and seating for over five-hundred. The inside lobby, which enhanced the Texas culture and gave off a welcoming and romantic vibe; also served as a central location for guests to cool down, socialize and enjoy wedding cake.

This reception venue was enjoyed by all of the guests and in my opinion was one of my favorite weddings that I have ever attended. The idea to host the reception at Frontier Texas! was a great concept. The guests felt relaxed and comfortable because they were able to mingle both indoors and out, without feeling crowded and confined to a small place.

If you are looking for a venue that is unique and full of culture and history, I would recommend considering Frontier Texas!. If you are interested in renting Frontier Texas! for you next party or reception, contact Scott Clowdus at 325-437-2800. Frontier Texas! is located at 625 N. 1st St. in Abilene, Texas. Don’t forget to stop by the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau to get assistance planning your event. We are located at 1101 N. 1st St. in Abilene. For more information on photographers, wedding planners, caterers, florists, hotel rooms and more, contact me at the Abilene CVB: 325-676-2556.

The Abilene City Council adopted the SoDA district (south downtown Abilene) master development plan at this week’s council meeting. Many of us are looking forward to seeing the SoDA district evolve into something grand. I hope it is sooner than later. As I told the city council, if we wait to move on this any later, I will be 80 years old before they finish redevelopment!

Speaking of south downtown Abilene, today, I stopped in at “Dream of the Decorator” located at 1305 South 1st and Butternut. This was my first visit to the store and I was greeted by a very friendly sales person. She invited me to browse and she would be at the counter if I needed anything. It is so nice to shop where you don’t feel like your being hovered over.

One of my favorite things was the moda fabric. We are redecorating a room at home that I first wanted to paint red. We have now decided to add all the color into the curtains, bedding and pillows. I didn’t know anyone in Abilene carried moda fabric. I have been looking online but you can’t tell true colors unless you see them in person. I found all of the fabric I needed and the best discovery of all was that it was on sale for 25% off.

The store is open Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by the way, in order to make room for new inventory, all items in the store (except moda) are currently 50% off! The sale is running through the end of June. I have my eye on a fake fur throw if someone wants to buy me something special.

If you haven’t been to downtown lately you haven’t been anywhere at all! I highly encourage you to check this store (and sale) out! For more information, call 325-437-1068.
